The infrastructure behind our web hosting
Both web hosting and WordPress hosting run on the same high-availability Proxmox cluster in Oslo, which our team operates and maintains to ensure fast response times and reliable uptime. PHP security updates from CloudLinux and Plesk, including backports for older PHP versions, are applied automatically, and the cluster is backed up daily.

Questions & Answers
Website Hosting and WordPress Hosting run on the same clustered platform and share the same essentials: control panel, SSL, email, DNS tools, databases and daily platform backups.
WordPress Hosting adds a WordPress-focused layer: integrated caching and optimization, staging and cloning, safer update tools, and normal placement on higher-frequency processors. Website Hosting is the economical choice when you do not need that layer.
WordPress itself runs on Website Hosting as well: it installs from the control panel like any other PHP application.
STWmail is included with every domain or hosting plan at ServeTheWorld. It provides modern, ad-free webmail with two-factor authentication, calendar, contacts and to-do lists. If your domain is registered elsewhere, you can also connect it to STWmail.
You can create unlimited email addresses and aliases for the domains using the service. The free tier offers 300 MB per mailbox, and individual mailboxes can be upgraded for more storage and functionality.
STWmail is designed for normal correspondence and has sending limits in place, including 200 recipients per mailbox per hour and 500 emails per domain per hour. Smaller email campaigns may fit within those limits, but larger outreach campaigns are normally better handled through dedicated email marketing platforms or mailing-list services.
Fair use applies to prevent spam abuse, protect mail delivery quality and keep the shared mail platform reliable for all customers.
Yes. The entire hosting platform is backed up once a day, so there is always a recovery point available even if you have never taken a backup yourself. If something goes wrong and you are not sure how to restore, contact support: it is a straightforward operation, usually done within minutes. Assisted restore is formally priced at 1,290 NOK, but a first, one-off request is normally handled free of charge in good faith; the fee applies where it becomes a recurring need.
The caveat is frequency. Platform backups run once a day, so the most recent recovery point can be up to 24 hours old, and it is the platform’s point in time, not yours. If you need to return to a specific moment (before an update, a content change or a release) that point only exists if you made the backup.
That is why we recommend keeping your own backups alongside ours. Platform backups are a safety net underneath you, not an archive of your work: use your own backup routine for anything you would be unwilling to redo.
Each account has defined CPU, memory and disk allocations, applied per account by CloudLinux, so one website cannot take resources away from another.
When a site reaches those limits, requests queue rather than fail outright, and the site feels slower under load. The allocation for each plan is listed in the comparison table.
If a site regularly runs at its limit, the next step is usually a larger plan or a VPS. Support can help you work out which.
Imunify360 scans for known threats and filters malicious traffic, but no scanner catches everything.
If a website is compromised, you can restore a clean backup, remove affected files through Plesk or FTP, or ask us for help.
We offer a fixed-price malware cleanup and basic inspection at NOK 695 ex. VAT per website: we remove infected files, run a scan for malicious code and recommend next steps.
Yes, but it is a paid feature unless you choose one of the WordPress Hosting plans, where we migrate your site for free. Tell us what you have today and we will review the site and plan the move with you.
We normally need access to your current hosting account, or a complete backup of the website files and database. We then move the website to ServeTheWorld and help you test it before the final switch.
Your domain can remain with its current provider or be transferred to ServeTheWorld separately using an authorization code from the existing registrar. We generally recommend moving and testing the website first, then updating or transferring the domain once everything is ready.
Immediately. For Norwegian customers, your hosting is activated when you order, and the invoice follows by email.
For customers outside Norway, activation follows payment by card, bank transfer, digital currency or PayPal.
Website Hosting has a monthly availability target of 99.9 percent. WordPress Hosting carries a higher commitment of 99.99 percent, reflecting the more closely managed WordPress environment and the additional operational oversight applied to it.
Both run on the same clustered infrastructure in our Oslo data center.
The calculation, exclusions and applicable service credits are defined in the SLA for each service: SLA (GH plans) and SLA (WP plans).
If you need root access, custom server software, dedicated resources or unusually high resource use, a VPS is the next step.
We can help you move a website from shared hosting to one of our VPS or VDS plans.
